Herbert Morton has been providing business and management advice and accounting and taxation services to individuals and businesses of all sizes throughout the Waikato region and New Zealand for 25 years. Located on the Waikato river, in the historic Souter House, partners Peter Morton and Lorraine Cruickshank and consultant Keith Herbert (former Partner) have over 80 years combined experience in Chartered Accountancy.

The team at Herbert Morton aim to assist their clients achieve their objectives at an affordable price. They believe in building long term client relationships and take pride in providing personal assistance which comes from years of advanced training, technical experience and professional development.

KEITH HERBERT, CA - Consultant
Keith has been a practicing accountant for nearly 50 years and has specialized in the bloodstock industry for the last 25 years.

Keith has worked with a diverse range of clients and has a wealth of knowledge on investment, business and taxation matters. Keith spent 8 years as Cambridge Jockey Club Treasurer.

Keith & wife Gloria live in Omokoroa where Keith often engages in his favourite past times, fishing and golf.

LORRAINE CRUICKSHANK BCom, CA – Partner

Lorraine Cruickshank, As a University of Auckland graduate, Lorraine worked in public practice in Auckland, later moving into a commercial role with the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron.

Since joining Herbert Morton in 2004, Lorraine has been involved in advising a wide range of small and medium sized business clients. Her professional experience spans all facets of everyday advisory and accounting including companies, trusts and business valuations.

Lorraine was the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce president for three years, a voluntary role which had her deeply involved in local business issues and events.

Lorraine’s two primary aged boys keep her busy with rugby and soccer in the winter, tennis and athletics in the summer, and TaeKwon-Do all year round.
 

PETER MORTON BCom, CA – Partner

Peter Morton, Peter specializes in providing business and accounting services to the motor trade industry. With 60 workshop and service station clients from Invercargill in the south to Whangarei in the North, Peter provides effective benchmarking to his clients on a regular basis.

He also conducts an annual conference for motor trade clients, arranging top guest speakers on relevant issues, including employment, marketing and the latest fraud control methods.

Peter & wife Brigid have raised their family of five in Cambridge and are now enjoying time with their grand children. He is also a life member of the Motor Trade Association.

SARAH SMITH – Senior Manager

Sarah was born, raised and educated in Hamilton.  She was employed by Touche Ross Accountants as a junior straight from High School.  She moved to Cambridge in 1993 and was employed by Herbert Morton, to assist Peter with his expanding client base.
In 1997 she meet her husband and moved to Carterton, and with the new age of technology Peter & Keith decided to set her up in an office there.  This office has expanded over the years and after starting on her own, the office now has 5 staff.

Sarah enjoys the management side of accounting and the contact with clients that this requires, she has gained a good knowledge of the Service Station and Workshop Industries.

Sarah and husband Blaine also run 3 service stations in the Wairarapa.  The have two primary school aged children, and are very involved in the local community.

NIKI ADAM, BBus, CA – Senior Manager

Niki was born, raised and educated in Cambridge. In her last year at high school she was employed by Herbert Morton on an apprenticeship and has been working in the firm since.

In 2004 Niki graduated with a Bachelor of Business from the Waikato Polytechnic and in 2006 completed her final exams for entrance to the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants. Niki has been a senior accountant and manager for a number of years and thoroughly enjoys the working environment and the daily challenges that her working with a wide range of clients brings.

Niki enjoys the direct contact and involvement with clients and their business as she can focus on what is important to clients and assist them to manage and grow their businesses.

Niki and husband Brendon have two very active toddlers. Now that the family is getting older, Niki is looking forward to getting involved in the local business community.

KYLE OWENS, BBus, CA – Senior Manager

Kyle was born, raised and educated in Te Awamutu. In 1992 he entered the accounting profession with Te Awamutu based chartered accountancy practice Robertson Young & Co, during which time he began studying towards a Bachelor of Business degree at The Waikato Polytechnic, and subsequently became a qualified member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand. In 2001, Kyle and wife Kate travelled to Europe for their overseas experience and to expand their work experience. As a soccer fanatic, Kyle enjoyed life in London.

While in London, he held a management accounting role at MultiServ, an international company that has over 150 operations in 35 countries providing logistics and processing services to the world’s steel industry where he gained invaluable experience working in a global industry.

Kyle & Kate returned to New Zealand in 2009 with their pre-school aged son.
